Anxiety Services

According to The National Institute for Mental Health, Anxiety Disorders are the number one mental health problem among American women and the second most prevalent problem among American men; Panic and Anxiety symptoms can drastically affect ones ability to work, raise a family and enjoy daily life. The NIMH states that Anxiety Disorders affect at least 19 million (13%) of adults ages 18 – 54 and 13 million teenagers ages 9 – 17.

Anxiety Services provides clinical services to individuals whose lives are affected by anxiety and anxiety related disorders. Such disorders include but are not limited to:

  • Panic Disorder Without Agoraphobia
  • Panic Disorder With Agoraphobia
  • Specific Phobia
  • Social Phobia
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
  • Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
  • Acute Stress Disorder
  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder
  • Anxiety Disorder NOS

Signs of an Anxiety Disorder are:

  • Feeling anxious, scared or fearful
  • Trembling or shaking
  • Unreasonable guilt
  • Pattern of self-criticism
  • Unwanted or hard to get rid of thoughts
  • Fear of losing control of going "crazy"
  • Needing to make things perfect
  • Racing or pounding heart
  • Difficulty breathing when anxious
  • Unreasonable fears of dying
  • Flushes, chills or sweating
  • Avoiding social situations, speaking in front of groups
  • Dreamlike sensations or perceptual distortions
  • Fears of dying
  • Sense of impending doom
  • Jitteriness or restlessness
  • Difficulty focusing or concentrating
  • Sleep problems
  • Unreasonable fears of objects, places, traveling, going out
  • Avoiding certain situations, places, traveling or going out

Treatment of Anxiety disorders helps individuals to:

  • Learn about Anxiety Disorders
  • Receive support from others experiencing similar difficulties
  • Learn the skills to make the life-style changes and achieve a sound recovery
  • Cope with anxiety symptoms a goal of eliminating them altogether
  • Change negative thought patterns and beliefs that contribute to anxiety
  • Use relaxation techniques and develop a self-care plan to reduce anxiety
  • Understand behavioral traits and the role of emotions and self-esteem in anxiety
  • Increase coping and stress management skills
