Martha Ainsworth, LCSW

Martha has been practicing as a Licensed Clincial Social Worker for more than twenty five years. She holds a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennesse. She sees a wide variety of clients, including children and adolescents. Martha respects variations in cultural values, sexual orientation and religious beliefs. Typical types of issues treated include anxiety, depression, divorce adjustment, marital problems, and grief. In addition, Martha is a trained family mediator and practices divorce mediation.

Martha believes that three important qualities of an effective therapist are skill, compassion, and wisdom. Her approach in therapy is direct and interactive. She sees therapy as a contract between the client and the therapist where she joins the client as a facilitator and as someone who supports, adds objectivity and identifies strengths. Overall, her style is always respectful and relaxed as she attempts to creat a comfortable therapeutic setting which promotes openess and personal growth.
