Evelyn M. Frye, Ph.D.
Founder and Principal
Dr. Frye grew up in the Nashville area, earned successive M.A., Ed.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Peabody College of Vanderbilt University. Before founding the Evelyn Frye Center, she taught psychology at the high school and at the university levels.
Throughout her career she has been an active member of a number of professional associations including the American Psychological Association, Southeastern Psychological Association and the Tennessee Psychological Association. She served as a Member of the TPA Board of Directors, Co-Chair of the Professional Standards Committee and as a Vice President of the Tennessee Psychological Association. During her tenure as Co-Chair of the Professional Standards Committee, she was instrumental in establishing the Peer Assistance Program for impaired psychologists.
Dr. Frye was the first psychologist invited to become a member of Tennessee Women in Medicine. She is listed in the National Register of Health Service Providers, is certified by six national boards and has consulting privileges at three area hospitals. She serves on the Physicians Advisory Committee (PAC) for a large Insurance Company and has served as a psychological consultant for several Behavioral Health Care Organizations.
Dr. Frye has created a strong, successful group practice by adhering to two basic principles: providing high-quality service, and meeting the needs of clients and referring practitioners in a respectful and professional way. Dr. Frye’s adaptive leadership style has enabled The Evelyn Frye Center to meet the challenge of todays volatile healthcare and business environments while continuing to achieve its primary goal â€“ meeting the needs of its clients with a complete spectrum of behavioral healthcare services. Due to her constant focus on quality of service and respect for the individual, the Center enjoys a superior reputation with referral sources and clients throughout Middle Tennessee.
Robert de la Torre, Psy. D.
Director of Evaluation Services and Principal
Dr. de la Torre is the Director of Evaluation Services at the Frye Center. In that role, he is responsible for ensuring the quality of all evaluation services. In addition he personally conducts a wide array of assessments, including diagnostic, pre-surgery, risk for violence, and vocational disability evaluations.
A licensed clinical psychologist and board-certified expert in traumatic stress, Dr. de la Torre received his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and his doctorate from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. He has completed both levels of training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), has provided psychotherapy to adults, adolescents, and children, and has presented to corporate groups on various mental health topics and issues during his 15 years at the Frye Center.
